RF Systems Engineer Portsmouth (3 days per week hybrid working) – 6 month contract – Pay rate £37.38 p/h PAYE basic (£42.81 p/h including holiday pay) or £50 p/h Umbrella We are looking to recruit an RF Engineer for our client in the space and satellite industry. You will be working on a hybrid basis circa 3 days per week onsite in the Portsmouth office, working in the Terminals and TMA team. This team is responsible for the satellite communication terminals products which include antenna equipment and management software. The work of the team encompasses terminals for land, sea and air domains, however the primary focus at the Portsmouth site is for the development and sustainment of naval antennas for the maritime domain. Responsibilities Produce a specification from an RF (Radio Frequency) or Microwave requirement that defines frequencies of operation. Define input and output interfaces. Define performance criteria and define how to validate and verify performance by specifying a test strategy. Produce System Diagrams and define RF budgets through an entire Rx / Tx chain. Validate an RF design. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company's success, reputation and sustainable growth. Requirements: Essential RF Knowledge The demonstrated ability to master the design and/or perform analysis of circuits in the RF (Radio Frequency), Microwave and mm Wave frequency range. Knowledge of methods with respect to: EM field theory and general RF theory; general RF circuit design; tools for 3D as well as 2.5D circuit design; material characteristics and behaviour at RF frequencies; RF measurement techniques; environmental effects on RF units. Ability to provide sufficient detailed data and information about system elements to enable the implementation consistent with architectural entities as defined in models and views of the system architecture and in accordance with the allocated requirements. Ability to verify the compliance of a detailed design solution toward baseline of validated requirements for a single sub-system / equipment / component / module. Ability to work closely sharing both industrial and functional design view, from the very early stages of the design through the serial production phase and up to the in- service life of the product (whole product lifecycle), working in close collaboration between the Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and any other disciplines involved throughout the whole product lifecycle and/or in the Multifunctional Team (MFT). Understand the organization, infrastructure, constraints and limitations of Program industrial planning, supported by Quality/supply chain. Understand global systems/products and their interdependencies during industrialization phase. Desirable Military standards relating to Satellite Communications Systems (e.g. MIL-STD-188-164C). Military satellite communications systems in the maritime domain. Additional Information: You will be required to hold a live UK MOD Secret Clearance (SC level) prior to starting.
