Overview

The Haemato-Oncology Day Unit (HODU) is a modern 9-chair treatment facility providing high-quality care to patients with oncological and haematological conditions. Our dedicated team delivers Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted treatments, as well as a wide range of supportive therapies such as blood transfusions.

HODU treats patients throughout their treatment pathway providing individualised, compassionate and informed care. We welcome and encourage applications from newly qualified nurses.

Fordcombe Hospital, near Tunbridge Wells, became part of the Trust in October 2024. Specialising in planned care, it offers two operating theatres, 28 inpatient and day-care beds, diagnostic services (X-ray, MRI, CT, and endoscopy), and consultation/treatment rooms. We are a large acute hospital trust in south-east England, providing general hospital services and specialist care to around 600,000 residents in West Kent and East Sussex.

Responsibilities

  • Support the unit manager to run an effective and safe unit as part of the nursing team.
  • Deliver high standards of holistic, proactive, and patient-centered care for patients throughout their treatment pathway, including those newly diagnosed or on palliative care.
  • Provide support to patients and their carers across all aspects of care in collaboration with colleagues.
  • Be SACT competent and contribute to delivery of Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy in the unit.
  • Adopt an autonomous yet collaborative approach, demonstrating sensitivity and professionalism within the team.
  • Participate in informal visits and engage with the wider Trust induction and annual training requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • SACT competency is required to apply for this post.
  • A willingness to engage with flexible working arrangements and a pro-active approach to care delivery.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity and safeguarding in line with Trust policies.
  • Successful completion of the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced Level (as applicable to the role).
