Our client is recruiting for an SC cleared Safety Engineer with experience in Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (OME) Safety for a contract starting ASAP until the end of March 2026, with scope to be extended. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement split between working from home and being onsite in Bristol at least once per week.

The Safety Engineer will focus on the development of the SPEAR Capability 3 (SC3) safety case in accordance with DSA.02 as the weapon progresses through its Demonstration phase towards entry into service. The role includes advising the team to ensure the programme delivers artefacts that demonstrate compliance with policy, legislation, and defence regulation, and that assets are demonstrably safe. The Safety Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day activities, delivering against agreed tasks and in accordance with the SC3 Safety Management Plan (SMP).

Key Responsibilities

• SC3 Safety Case Report Review
• Maintenance of SC3 Safety Summary / Forward Action Plan / Void Tracker
• Update of SC3 Operational Safety & Environmental Case Report (SECR)
• Support to SC3 Operational OME Safety Review Panel (OSRP) Submission
• Annual SC3 Safety Management Plan (SMP) Review
• SC3 TSDT Hazard Log development
• Safety support to SC3 team feeding the Safety Case development

Experience

• DE&S safety management systems and processes (POSMS)
• Experience in OME Safety
• Safety and Environmental Management Plans
• Safety Case / A Safety Case Report
• Hazard Logs and Hazard identification and assessment

• DE&S environmental management systems and processes (POEMS)
• Experience in Air integrated OME
• Experience in complex weapon systems
