Role Title: Infrastructure Support EngineerDuration: contract to run until 26/06/2026Location: Wokingham, Hybrid 50% onsiteRate: up to £276 p/d Umbrella inside IR35Clearance required: Active SC ClearanceRole purpose / summaryMain Responsibility: To be available to oversee access of supplier teams into the control centre to do various manual pieces of work (e.g. like relaying cables or patching cables etc). Remote work is possible, but candidates must be ready to travel into client site when asked for (including after hours).Key Skills/ requirementsAccess Coordination & Site Support:Oversee and manage physical access of supplier teams into control centresEnsure supplier activities (e.g. cable relaying, patching) are conducted according to site protocolsMaintain accurate logs of access, work performed, and any incidents or deviationsAct as liaison between client teams and suppliers to coordinate schedules and resolve access-related issuesRespond to urgent access requests, including after-hours site visits when necessaryUphold safety, security, and compliance standards during all on-site activitiesInfrastructure Support & Maintenance:Monitor and maintain physical and virtual infrastructure systems (servers, networks, storage)Perform routine checks, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on hardware and systemsTroubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and service requestsSupport installation, configuration, and upgrades of hardware and software componentsMaintain documentation of infrastructure assets, configurations, and proceduresCollaborate with IT teams to ensure system availability, performance, and scalabilityAssist in disaster recovery planning and executionEnsure compliance with IT policies, standards, and security protocolsParticipate in infrastructure projects, migrations, and rollouts as neededRequired SkillsStrong organizational and administrative skillsFamiliarity with physical infrastructure environments (e.g. cabling, patch panels, server rooms)Solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs)Experience with Windows and/or Linux server environmentsKnowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V)Basic understanding of cloud platforms (e.g. Azure, AWS) is a plusExcellent communication and coordination abilitiesAbility to work independently and manage multiple prioritiesWillingness and flexibility to travel to client sites, including outside standard working hoursPrior experience in infrastructure support, systems administration, or IT operationsDesirable AttributesCertifications such as CompTIA Server+, Network+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similarExperience working with third-party suppliers or contractorsCommitment to safety, procedural compliance, and operational excellenceAnalytical mindset with strong problem-solving skillsCalm under pressure and responsive to urgent operational needsFamiliarity with ITIL practices and service management tools.All profiles will be reviewed against the required skills and experience.
