OverviewAs our Scaffold Design Engineer, you'll take the lead on delivering safe, innovative, and compliant scaffold designs for a major nuclear construction project. From initial concept through to on-site execution, you'll be the technical authority - ensuring that everything is built not just to spec, but to the highest safety and quality standards.ResponsibilitiesAct as the lead design engineer for scaffold-related temporary works.Create high-quality drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk tools; prepare detailed engineering calculations that comply with British and European standards.Prepare full technical documentation in line with CDM regulations and internal processes.Collaborate with design managers, JV partners, site teams, and client representatives to develop the best possible solutions.Provide technical support, expert advice, and guidance to the wider team.Review and check scaffold designs to ensure they meet BS5975 standards.We’re after someone who blends technical skill with practical insight - someone who’s confident, collaborative, and ready to take ownership of complex challenges.QualificationsQualification in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering (HNC, HND or Degree).At least 3 years' experience in scaffolding design.Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and ideally structural analysis software.Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and a clear sense of prioritisation.Experience on major infrastructure projects - particularly within highly regulated industries.Driven by a desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a team that values innovation.BenefitsA competitive salary25 days' holiday plus bank holidaysThe chance to work on one of the UK's most ambitious nuclear projectsA culture that rewards ingenuity, fosters personal growth, and celebrates successAt Altrad, we’re not just a support services company - we’re the critical human infrastructure that keeps the UK and Ireland’s most vital industries moving.
