About the role Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity. The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke. We are more than just an alliance, we are bringing together a single delivery organisation with years of learning and experience from other major complex infrastructure programmes worldwide. What you'll be doing The scope of the Enabling Works and Earthwork is the design, planning, procurement and execution of some of the early SZC civils scope including – SSSI Crossing, ground improvements, dewatering, diaphragm walls, sea defence, marine bulk import facility (MBIF), beach landing facility (BLF), construction drainage outfall and bulk Earthworks. • Support Site Engineer with Complex setting out and site activities. • Produce RAMS, ITPS and weekly programmes. Carry out Site Briefings, Ensure Quality documents are completed and approved. Capture KPI records and report upstream. Review design drawings and raise Technical Queries. Able to clearly communicate the requirements of a safe system of work to ensure that these are followed accurately. Suggests and implements improvements to systems
Capable of taking ownership of tasks and communicating outcomes with clarity; experienced at encouraging direct reports to do the same and managing a team to ensure tasks are carried out effectively and key messages cascaded
Strong work ethic with flexibility to work unsociable hours/nights
Able to work on own initiative and seek out opportunities in line with level of responsibility
Excellent team player, able to work competently and independently without continuous supervision
Strong communication skills with good interpersonal and influencing skills
Solution orientated approach to issue resolution
Excellent role model for development of team members and demonstrates required behaviours to align to project and team objectives
Understands method statements and risk assessments, able to develop new and improved safe systems of work
A full understanding of technical requirements and techniques of setting out and coaching of team members
Allocates correct resource levels and identifies additional requirements
Track record of solution orientated approach to issue resolution

People Management experience and relationship management skills
Commercial awareness with knowledge of both budgetary and Financial control.
Qualifications & Experience Essential
HNC/HND/Degree in an electrical or engineering discipline would be preferable and/or relevant Site Experience with the Utilities / Construction Industry
CSCS card
SSSTS or SMSTS qualified
Desirable
Targeting and actively progressing professional accreditation (eg ICE, IHT)
Strong knowledge and management of construction process in one or more of the following areas: Earthworks/Drainage, Structures, Ground engineering.
