The Team
We are looking for an AI engineer to help us build solutions that utilise the latest GenAI and Machine Learning techniques and capabilities. This role will allow you to work at the intersection of technology, generative AI and finance, helping to deliver high-impact, novel solutions that touch every part of our business.
Working within our Machine Learning Technology team, you will help to build out the core AI platform and infrastructure used across Man Group. Alongside this, you will also partner and consult with teams across the business to help create agents and tools that augment, automate and ultimately transform our investment and operational workflows.

Role Responsibilities
- Engineer, enhance, and maintain the firm's core AI and Machine Learning platform
- Partner with stakeholders in research, trading, technology, and operations to design, build, and deploy bespoke AI/ML applications and agents
- Manage the full lifecycle of domain-specific models, including training, fine-tuning, validation, deployment, and monitoring in production environments
- Keep up to date with the latest in the field of applied AI to identify and propose novel solutions capable of driving our business forward
- Proactively engage with teams across the business to promote understanding and adoption of AI tools and capabilities
- Demonstrable enthusiasm for AI engineering and Machine Learning
- Excellent software engineering skills with a strong knowledge of Python
- A keen interest and understanding of financial markets and instruments
- Relevant mathematical knowledge e.g. statistics, optimisation algorithms, linear algebra.
Advantageous
- Experience using GenAI to build agentic, knowledge processing, or automated coding tools
- Experience training or fine-tuning generative models
- Experience building tools and technologies within systematic or discretionary investing units
Personal Attributes
- Strong academic record and a degree with high mathematical and computing content e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or Physics from a leading university
- Craftsman-like approach to building software; takes pride in engineering excellence and instils these values in others
- Demonstrable passion for technology e.g. personal projects, open-source involvement
- Intellectually robust with a keenly analytic approach to problem solving
- Self-organised with the ability to effectively manage time across multiple projects and with competing business demands and priorities
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain a close working relationship with traders, quantitative researchers, and senior business people alike
- Confident communicator; able to argue a point concisely and deal positively with conflicting views.
