Senior Android Engineer – London - Hybrid (occasional travel to the office). Up to £85k basic. An exciting opportunity for a Senior Android Engineer to join a fast-moving tech scale-up building data-driven mobile products. This is a respected engineering environment where people are trusted to solve complex problems, take real ownership, and move quickly with purpose.

As a Senior Android Engineer, you’ll play a key role in evolving and scaling a sophisticated Android app used daily by a large customer base. You’ll work across two key products – the main customer-facing app and a native SDK. It’s a chance to apply your skills to real-world challenges, with a strong emphasis on performance, usability, and reliability at scale. This is a senior role with real technical influence – you’ll contribute to architectural decisions, mentor others, and help shape the direction of the app and the platform. You’ll work closely with product, data, and backend teams, with the freedom to explore new tools and apply AI-driven approaches to boost productivity and developer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to architectural decisions and shape the direction of the Android app and platform
  • Mentor others, lead by example, and collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Develop and evolve a sophisticated Android app used by a large customer base
  • Work on two key products – the main customer-facing app and a native SDK
  • Focus on performance, usability, and reliability at scale
  • Explore new tools and AI-driven approaches to boost productivity and developer experience

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Coroutines, Jetpack Libraries, and Jetpack Compose
  • Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns
  • Proven ability to build scalable, user-friendly SDKs for use by other developers
  • Track record of building secure, performant, and maintainable Android apps
  • Clear communicator who works well in cross-functional teams and values collaboration
  • Comfortable mentoring others, leading by example, and contributing to technical direction
  • Curious about AI and how it can be used to work smarter and improve code quality
