Role and key duties You’re a Senior Application Operations Engineer with the skills to keep essential systems performing at their best. One day you might be configuring databases or troubleshooting complex incidents; the next you could be shaping change requests, mentoring colleagues, or stepping in to lead the team. You’ll take ownership, solve problems, and ensure services stay secure, reliable and resilient. You won’t do it alone. You’ll work side by side with project managers, developers and incident teams, translating technical detail into solutions that make sense. You’ll help refine processes, improve how we deliver services, and keep developing your own expertise along the way. Your work helps safeguard vital government operations. Team, culture and progression Lead with knowledge and grow with purpose. You’re an experienced IT professional with the skills and certifications to back it up. You’ve built a solid foundation—whether through formal qualifications or hands-on experience in complex, secure environments. You know enterprise-level technologies and can work under pressure to deliver reliable results. You value teamwork, communication and doing things the right way. You share knowledge, support colleagues, and step up as a leader when needed.
Proven experience providing 3rd line support across Microsoft services – from Exchange and Teams to Intune, SharePoint, and the wider Power Platform. Confident with PowerShell scripting and security tools like Defender and Purview. Analytical, adaptable and focused on quality; capable of remaining steady in fast-paced environments.
