The Senior Applications Engineer will be an accomplished and highly motivated individual with knowledge & experience of identifying automated solutions & specialities predominately for the medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturing markets. By providing technical support to the sales team, the Technical Sales Engineer will play an essential role in guaranteeing that our proposals continue to deliver robust, reliable, state of the art solutions for our customers. They will be a point of continuity throughout the project life cycle by providing technical support for the project and the wider business.

The Senior Applications Engineer will travel globally to customers facilities to review requirements and present proposals.

Key Responsibilities

The following list is an indication of the responsibilities of the role, which the post holder will be expected to undertake. The list is not exhaustive and is intended as guidance only.

  • Technically support the sales team.
  • Analyse and verify customers’ requirements.
  • Develop technical solutions collaborating with our SME’s & specialist suppliers.
  • Provide guidance internally to our production teams after purchase orders.
  • Facilitate meetings with our Applications team & Sales teams to develop customer proposals.
  • Craft proposals meticulously, paying close attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with the sales engineer to present proposals to the end customer.
  • Undertake Proof of Principle work to eliminate project risks.
  • Liaising with existing and new suppliers
  • Explore new technologies & opportunities for the company.
  • Developing simulations for proposed customer solutions
  • Specify any network & database communications requirements.
  • Compliance with ISO 9001 and 13485

Key Skills

The following list is an indication of the skills that the Senior Applications Engineer will possess, in fulfilment of the position.

  • Engineering Degree or 8+ years’ experience working in an automation environment.
  • Working knowledge of robotics, machine controls and manufacturing processes
  • Ability to present ideas, concepts, and pricing information in a clear, concise manner suitable for technical audiences is essential.
  • Fully conversant with the Office suite; Excel; Word etc
  • Capable of using own initiative and setting work goals from multiple sources.
  • Experience in collaborating with multi disciplined engineering teams.
  • Able to use, or show aptitude to be trained to use, CAD packages; both 2D DraftSight & potentially Solidworks to provide simple layouts & concept drawings for proposals.
  • Capable of working in a fast paced, high-pressure environment, overcoming unique challenges.
