Brief Description
As a Senior Asset Engineer [Buildings Fabric], you’ll take a leading role in managing and maintaining the building fabric assets across the route, region or function, ensuring they continue to meet the highest standards of performance, safety and compliance.
About The Role
In this pivotal role, you will:
- Lead the stewardship, inspection and management of building fabric assets, ensuring alignment with asset policy and technical strategy.
- Recommend and plan essential repairs, renewals and improvements to maintain asset performance.
- Oversee the production of maintenance and renewal remits, ensuring they meet Network Rail’s strategic goals.
- Sponsor and guide complex or specialist maintenance and renewal schemes, ensuring compliance with corporate policy.
- Lead risk assessments, engineering analyses and business case development for maintenance and renewal programmes.
- Monitor asset trends, performance data and incident investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Support cross‑functional collaboration by reviewing proposals that impact maintenance or renewal activity.
About You
You’re an experienced and driven property or building fabric engineer with a strong background in operational assets and infrastructure. You’ll bring:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent professional recognition.
- Extensive experience in operational property or building fabric engineering.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, asset management policies and best practice.
Your ability to combine technical expertise with sound engineering judgement will make you a trusted advisor and leader within the Region.

Salary
£55,596 – £65,966 plus £3,270 Location Allowance
