Driven by you and supported by us.Job DescriptionAfter recent framework successes, we have a range of roles available for experienced electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (EICA) engineers in our Manchester, Newcastle and Liverpool offices within our multidisciplinary Water Consultancy Division. We work on a vast range of design projects covering, for example:Water treatmentWater distributionWastewater recyclingIndustrial process waterDesalinationIrrigationHydropowerFlood defence.We cover all phases of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support, and commissioning to handover. We provide specialist technical support to colleagues across our global business, offering fantastic opportunities to get involved in diverse and technically challenging work. Our clients include the majority of UK water utility companies, and many other governmental organisations and private companies in the UK and overseas.Providing leadership and mentoring to other electrical engineers, you will be responsible for checking and reviewing design documents and providing technical direction to projects.Using your experience and expertise you will ensure that designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.You will lead the integration of the electrical & ICA design with that of other disciplines.You will work in close partnership with clients and contractors, building strong relationships that will enhance the company’s reputation and help secure further work.Mott MacDonald is wholly owned by colleagues who work in our business. We are a family of people excited to solve complex challenges that have a positive impact on the world, and we are always looking for like-minded people to join our team.Candidate SpecificationsYou will be knowledgeable about a wide range of EICA tasks, typically including:Electrical power distribution designControl system designSpecifying local renewable and back-up generation systemsDeveloping plant layoutsCabling and installation designInstrumentation selectionLightning protection assessmentWriting system control strategiesFactory and site acceptance tests of equipment.EssentialQualified to HND level or higher in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline.Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues.Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.DesirableMaster’s degree in electrical, electronic or control engineering or a related discipline.Chartered status with the Institution of Engineering and Technology or an equivalent body.Experience of working in the water and/or wastewater industry.Good understanding of pipeline hydraulics.Good understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes.We are actively recruiting a diverse workforce that is reflective of the communities we serve.
