As part of our mission, we are seeking a talented Senior Python Backend Engineer to join our dynamic, expanding team. You’ll have the opportunity to design, build, and optimise critical software that drives demand forecasting and stock management at Zapp. You’ll be responsible for owning features end-to-end and heavily influencing your own roadmap.

Core Responsibilities

  • Demand forecasting: Build and enhance forecasting models to improve the accuracy of demand predictions, which impact multiple facets of our business operations.
  • Supply Chain Optimisation: Solve complex, evolving optimisation challenges related to stock movement, ensuring our warehouses and stores maintain optimal stock levels.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Own the lifecycle of new features from concept to deployment, and continuously iterate.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features, driving both business and technical excellence.
  • Code Quality: Write scalable, maintainable, and high-quality code while adhering to best practices for testing, deployment, and version control.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience as a Python developer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Expertise in Python and developing high-quality, scalable code. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like GCP, AWS, or Azure. Strong proficiency in Pandas for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Solid understanding of testing best practices and writing testable code.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and automated deployment pipelines (CI/CD).
  • Ability to dive into large codebases, understand existing architecture, and implement significant feature changes or improvements.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with Terraform
  • Familiarity with TypeScript, ReactJS, or NodeJS
