2 * Bridge/Structural Engineers – Long-Term Contracts – North West England

ELB Recruit are representing a key Local Authority framework seeking experienced Bridge/Structural Engineers to deliver capital works across the region. These are long-term contract roles working on essential infrastructure and highways structures projects, contributing to the development of vital public assets.

About the Role:

You’ll be providing professional engineering services and technical expertise on bridges and structural assets, taking responsibility for the delivery of complex schemes. Operating within established procedures and public sector frameworks, you’ll apply your judgement to manage a broad range of engineering challenges and shifting priorities.

This is an opportunity to join a significant public-sector infrastructure programme with the autonomy to drive improvements and the potential to develop and shape key projects in the area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver and manage a wide range of professional bridge and structural engineering projects, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and client requirements.
• Provide specialist advice and recommendations to clients, stakeholders, and project teams on engineering interventions.
• Offer technical mentoring and support to junior engineers and external partners where needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering policies, procedures, and service delivery.
• Manage small to medium-sized projects independently and contribute technical input to larger schemes.
• Analyse data, produce reports, and provide insights to inform project decisions and future planning.
• Develop strong working relationships with external agencies and partners to ensure cohesive project delivery.

Performance Indicators:

• Work delivered to industry standards, legal and safety compliance.
• Project milestones and targets achieved within timescales and budgets.
• Quality and accuracy of technical reporting and data analysis.
• Positive feedback from clients and stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

• Hybrid working: Minimum 2 days per week on site or in the office, with flexibility to work from home the remaining days depending on project demands.
• Projects based across the North West region.

What We’re Looking For:

• A qualified Structural/Bridge Engineer with a sound theoretical background and proven practical experience.
• Ability to manage workload independently, handle complex engineering problems, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Strong professional judgement and a commitment to delivering high-quality, safe, and sustainable solutions.
• Familiarity with public sector project frameworks and governance is advantageous.
