Overview
As a Senior Business Systems Applications Engineer, you will provide technical support and governance for our application portfolio, while playing a key role in our adoption of cloud technologies.
The Business Systems Solutions (BSS) department leverages innovative technologies to deliver bespoke and third-party solutions that enhance operational efficiency, scalability and sustainability across the Business.
The adoption of new technologies, systems and solutions is integral to the success and growth of the Business. You will play a key role in supporting these tools and their users, performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting issues through to resolution. You will work collaboratively with Business users, internal teams and external vendors to ensure the best support and solutions are delivered to the Business.
This role is eligible for inclusion in the Company’s hybrid working from home policy.
Responsibilities
- Becoming a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a given toolset, recommending features and functions to the internal team and Business.
- Taking responsibility for a wide range of tools and applications including on premise, SaaS and cloud based solutions.
- Managing, investigating and solving individual cases to ensure satisfactory outcomes for our customers.
- Training and continual mentoring of Engineers, Juniors and new team members.
- Investigating and escalating Major Incidents to Management.
- Providing support to the Business Systems Applications Team Leader as appropriate.
- Liaising with other departments to ensure timely resolution of cases and ensuring that our customers and stakeholders are kept informed of progress.
- Managing 3rd party suppliers to SLAs and forming excellent working relationships to leverage the best service.
- Overseeing testing and deployment of software or application patches and upgrades to ensure compliance, security and support levels are maintained.
- Ensuring availability of our systems through monitoring and reporting for both on premise and cloud hosted solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience with SaaS solutions and cloud-based technologies including hosting and management of bespoke applications on public cloud.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose, evaluate and resolve complex problem situations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience implementing, supporting and upgrading business-related systems and applications with an understanding of their architecture.
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities, work independently, multitask and meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management, with the ability to collaborate at all levels.
- Experience providing first-class support for a range of new systems and solutions.
