Process & Systems
•\tImplement and manage Procore (or equivalent) workflows for civil design review, version control, and approvals.
•\tStandardise design templates, checklists, and deliverable formats for consistent quality across projects.
•\tChampion digital tools such as BIM/Civil 3D to improve efficiency and collaboration.
•\tStakeholder & Project Coordination
•\tWork closely with electrical and mechanical engineering managers to deliver fully coordinated multidisciplinary designs.
•\tSupport procurement teams in preparing tender documents and evaluating civil contractors.
•\tProvide technical support during construction, resolving design queries and approving field changes.
•\tCompliance, Quality & Safety
•\tEnsure all designs meet UK regulatory requirements, Eurocodes, BS standards, and CDM regulations.
•\tLead design risk assessments and constructability reviews.
•\tPromote a strong safety culture in all aspects of design and delivery.

•\tDefine clear roles, responsibilities, and reporting lines within the team.
•\tEstablish Standards & Processes
•\tDevelop and implement civil design standards, workflows, and QA/QC checklists.
•\tIntroduce consistent design review and approval processes using Procore.
•\tCreate template deliverables for layouts, foundations, and drainage designs.
•\tDeliver Early-Stage Projects Civil design read for integration to electrical design
•\tSuccessfully deliver civil design packages for at least 30 MW of BESS projects within budget and programme.
•\tLead constructability reviews and support procurement for early EPC contracts.
•\tStrengthen Multidisciplinary Collaboration
•\tFormalise integration workflows with electrical and mechanical design teams.
•\tImplement BIM or Civil 3D-based coordination across disciplines.
•\tDevelop Team Capability & Culture
•\tLaunch training plans for junior engineers and designers.
•\tFoster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability.
•\tStrategic Planning & Innovation
•\tIdentify opportunities for cost optimisation in civil works (earthworks, foundations, drainage).
•\tPropose innovative approaches to improve sustainability and reduce project risk.
Qualifications / Capabilities
•\tBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
•\tChartered Engineer (CEng, MICE or MIStructE) or on a fast-track to chartership.
•\t5+ years of civil design experience, ideally in HV substations, BESS, or renewable infrastructure.
•\tProven track record building, managing, or significantly growing a technical team.
•\tStrong leadership, mentoring, and people development skills.
•\tProficiency with civil design software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, STAAD, Tekla, etc.).
•\tSolid understanding of EPC project delivery, multidisciplinary coordination, and design assurance.
