We are recruiting for a Senior Civil / Structural Design Engineer to work in our Engineering Team in the London office . About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple, niche sectors from residential housing developments, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, advanced manufacturing, data centres, energy and more as we strive to achieve the right balance between form and function when faced with competing priorities around sustainability, materiality, cost and constructability. Digitalisation is at the core of our delivery model allowing our clients and their stakeholders to really experience our designs right from project concept stage and through drawing on expertise spanning decades, industries and disciplines, we assist clients to harmonise design drivers through inspired engineering, architecture and development services. What you’ll be doing: You will be working closely with the team Director and supporting the project lead. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of design/ drawing production to assist in the technical delivery of projects. Additionally, you will:Collaborate with the team, delegate tasks and communicate effectivelyMentor junior colleagues; provide technical advice and guidanceAttend and contribute to project/ client meetingsAssist with site inspections and surveys as requiredUndertake design tasks based on expert technical knowledgeOversee and maintain high-quality technical design outputEstablish and maintain good relationships with external project team members and clientsRecognise and manage cost/ time and budget implications and also support in preparing fee proposalsProduce detailed technical output using design models and expert knowledgeValidate design models and calculations and contribute to technical specifications and reportsManage drawing production and ensuring BIM protocols are adhered toWork as part of a multi-disciplinary team and mentor junior team membersWho we’re looking for:Ideally Chartered or able to demonstrate progress towards achieving a professional qualification (CEng) with either the ICE and/or the IStructEHave a broad building structures capability with a minimum of 7-8 years post graduate experienceKnowledge and experience of undertaking building surveys and structural assessments would be beneficial, as would experience of tall building (15+ stories)Competent in relevant drawing, modelling and experienced in the application of relevant design softwareStrong technical knowledge of relevant legislation and standardsGood commercial awareness and project management skills and experienceManage continuous professional development and stay updated on legislationProficient in Microsoft Office with excellent written and verbal communication skillsWhat’s in it for you?
