Senior Data Engineer – Commodities trading

Overview

Senior Data Engineer role in a global commodities firm focused on energy and commodities trading. The team is implementing new data projects, starting with a migration onto Snowflake. You will collaborate with the business and Data Science teams to define solutions and build them using Python and SQL, selecting off-the-shelf products or building from scratch as needed. There is a strong path to leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead or contribute to data projects from requirements through implementation, starting with Snowflake migration.
• Interface with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into technical solutions.
• Collaborate with the Data Science team to design scalable data solutions.
• Develop using primarily Python and SQL; evaluate off-the-shelf products or build custom solutions as needed.
• Adopt and implement cutting-edge technologies as the team evolves.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years in a commercial data engineering role (senior level).
• Strong Python and SQL skills.
• Capital Markets experience is mandatory; any asset class experience is acceptable.

Compensation & Benefits
