You will implement a concrete governance framework to ensure data is trustworthy, compliant, and easily accessible. You will bridge the gap between Legal, Engineering, and Data teams to advance data responsibility and improve data processes for future developments. Your Role As a Senior Data EngineerDesign and implement our data governance strategy, translating high-level concepts into technical solutions.Drive data ownership and accountability across engineering teams.Design and implement scalable pipelines and tooling to automate data governance policies (e.g., PII tagging, data classification, and lineage).Provide clear guidance and implement paved paths for data quality and compliance, enabling teams to operate confidently.Support the identification and optimization of existing data for improved quality and compliance.Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously improve data processes.Coach and mentor less senior engineers on best practices. Ideal QualificationsDemonstrated ability to design and implement technical projects from inception to deployment, including architecture design and scaling.Strong software engineering focus with a concentration on data-centric systems.Experience in a data governance or data compliance-focused role.In-depth knowledge of public cloud (AWS, GCP).Extensive proficiency in SQL and experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java).Comprehensive understanding of data engineering tooling (e.g., BigQuery, Kafka, Airflow, Airbyte, DataHub).Strong stakeholder management, communication, and teamwork skills.
