The company operates across multiple international markets, leveraging cutting-edge technology to provide top-tier insurance products and services. They are seeking a talented Senior Data Engineer for their Portfolio Analytics team who can develop business analytics solutions to improve underwriting processes.
THE ROLEAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key part in developing advanced analytics solutions that support business growth and smart decision-making across the wholesale insurance market. You'll design and implement automated data pipelines, integrate new technologies, and deliver vital insights for underwriting, claims, and business operations.
- Work closely with data engineers and Power BI developers to create, transform, and visualise data for client and underwriting teams.
- Develop business analytics solutions and data models to empower data-driven decisions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, actuarial, and finance to support business priorities.
- Manage and enhance both on-premises and cloud-based data platforms using SQL Server, Databricks, and Azure.
- Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance across complex datasets, including those from insurance core systems.
- Contribute to the evolution of team processes, onboarding of new tech, and knowledge sharing.
- Opportunity to progress into a leadership role, taking over management of core data engineering functions.
- Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud Services (Data Factory, Databricks, Azure SQL, Key Vault).
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server, database development, and maintenance.
- Data warehousing methodologies (Kimball or Inmon).
- Python programming for data pipelines
- Experience in the insurance sector, ideally specialty or London Market.
- Familiarity with insurance data models and systems (e.g., Verisk Impact, Eclipse) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Power BI for dashboard and business intelligence development.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
- Experience with data architecture (advantageous).
