Senior Design Engineer - Job Description

Position Overview

A leading construction and engineering company is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to be based in Watford. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the design of complex engineering projects, providing technical leadership and ensuring that projects meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering phases of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations
• Develop and review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, project managers, and contractors
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure design integrity and resolve any technical issues
• Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and value engineering exercises
• Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining high standards of safety and quality
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards chartership
• Proven experience in structural design engineering within the Civil Engineering industry
• Strong proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro)
• In-depth knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and regulations
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
