Our focus is on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. SPEN is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity – safely, securely and sustainably in the communities we serve. SP Energy Networks are experiencing an unprecedented level of network investment and demand for major connections. These works involve significant engineering deliverables at multiple sites across the SP Distribution territory.
The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for the high-level planning and network design of the deliverables associated with these projects. It is expected that the successful applicant will support the District Head of Planning and Network Investment by contributing to the Investment plans and designs that will deliver the District’s ED2 contract. - Owning the handover of designs to the delivery teams.
- Managing the District level forecasting of key service partners, direct labour and material reservation.
- Monitoring the delivery of outputs, incentive metrics and milestones in line with business targets.
- Effectively managing project risk and mitigate the impact of issues that may emerge.
- Ensuring contracts are managed and maintained correctly.
- Developing accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects, with full accountability for project, contractual and financial governance.
- Creating, managing and monitoring project schedules in MS Project.
- Driving continuous improvement by completing project and contract reviews, identifying lessons learned and sharing these with the wider business.
- Creating proposals and introducing changes for best project management practice and behaviour across the wider project portfolio.
