The Opportunity: We have exciting opportunities for highly experienced Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineers to support a major nuclear project. The successful candidates will be based in Warrington, working 40 hours per week, with hybrid options available. Rate will be dependent on experience due to the potential for candidates of different levels of seniority to apply.

The role will support the EC&I Capability team in all aspects of Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Engineering from concept to delivery. The successful candidate will preferably have existing knowledge and experience in nuclear standards and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of mechanical handling systems, specifically package transfer systems and storage outside of Glovebox Lines, along with building services systems including cranes, FLTs and lifts.
  • Support the SRP Project during Construction, including procurement, manufacture, works test, installation, and commissioning. Provide design support to the supply chain and complete outstanding design scope from earlier project phases.
  • Provide design support to procurement, manufacture, and installation teams.
  • Manage CE&I design configuration baseline in response to developing project requirements and design information from the supply chain.
  • Check and review CE&I design deliverables to programme deadlines and to relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Work with the supply chain, supporting design aspects of contracts to ensure suppliers meet client Engineering Standards, respond to Technical Queries, and support test specification development and attendance at Works Acceptance Testing at supplier facilities.
  • Integrate and coordinate CE&I systems into the wider SRP Plant via Building Interface Modelling (BIM), working with other engineering and non-technical disciplines.
  • Support the project Commissioning team activities.
  • Ensure CE&I design intent remains aligned to safety case requirements (nuclear and conventional) and that all functional requirements are met, with Validation and Verification adequately managed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BEng/MEng degree or HND/HNC in a relevant field, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Professional registration or working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution (e.g. IET, InstMC).
  • Demonstrable ability to undertake the design of CE&I aspects of mechanical handling systems, with experience delivering similar systems in nuclear (preferred) or non-nuclear applications, and evidence of design competence throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Independently capable of managing their area of responsibility.
  • Ensuring Validation & Verification is completed throughout project delivery.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of the engineering organisation.

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role; nuclear experience is highly desirable but not essential if suitable experience can be demonstrated.

Role Details

  • The setting for the role: mainly office based with site visits if required. A safety induction will be provided.
  • The role will require travel to site as needed.
