Senior Electrical Consulting Engineer role at GHD in the Greater Guildford Area, United Kingdom. This opportunity is to join our growing UK Power team and deliver technically challenging projects across the UK, Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

This position is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer looking to advance in consulting, with exposure to client engagement and project leadership.

Responsibilities

• Supporting and leading the delivery of electrical engineering projects across distribution and transmission systems.
• Producing and reviewing technical specifications, FEED and concept studies.
• Acting as Owner’s Engineer and providing technical advisory/due diligence support.
• Undertaking cable system design, substation design (grid and distribution), and equipment specification.
• Assisting with tendering, bids, and proposals, providing technical expertise.
• Supporting site-based activities, including FAT, SAT and commissioning.
• Helping to mentor and support junior engineers, contributing to team growth.

What You’ll Bring: Skills & Experience

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng/BSc minimum; MEng/MSc desirable).
• Solid understanding of the UK electricity system and regulatory/stakeholder environment.
• Experience in the design, specification, construction, operation or maintenance of distribution and transmission level networks.
• Knowledge of key electrical equipment, such as gas and air insulated switchgear, transformers, harmonic filters, and reactive compensation equipment.
• Power cables (experience desirable).
• Power system protection and control (experience desirable).
• Previous project delivery experience (leading or co-ordinating tasks).
• Consulting experience (desirable, but not essential).
• Site experience (FAT, SAT, commissioning) – an advantage.
• Working towards or already holding Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with IET (or similar).
