Role: Senior Electrical Design Engineer – Building Services

Location: Milton Keynes (Hybrid Working)

Salary: Up to around £55k



I am looking to speak with a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team in Milton Keynes. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional to take on a role combining technical design expertise with client-facing responsibilities.



About the Role

In this pivotal position, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality building services design solutions across a range of projects. You will split your time between:

  • 20–30%: Attending site visits, inspections, and client meetings – representing the company with confidence and professionalism.
  • 70–80%: Hands-on design work, contributing your expertise to produce innovative, efficient, and compliant solutions.

Although flexible – they're ideally looking for someone who enjoys being part of a collaborative team environment rather than working remotely.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver mechanical or electrical building services design projects from concept through to completion.
  • Attend client and design team meetings, providing clear communication and technical expertise.
  • Conduct site visits, surveys, and inspections as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers, supporting their professional growth.
  • Liaise closely with other disciplines to ensure fully coordinated designs.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant regulations, standards, and best practice.


About Yourself

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • 5+ years of proven UK experience as an MEP Consultant in building services, or within a design department of a contractor.
  • A degree or HND in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or similar.
  • Chartered or working towards CEng status (desirable).
  • Strong technical design skills and proficiency with industry-standard software.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional, presentable manner.
  • Confidence to attend meetings, represent the company, and liaise directly with clients and contractors.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and take ownership of projects.
