Senior Electrical Design Engineer

This is a full-time role for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer located in the Greater Glasgow Area. Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks and deliverables associated with designing and developing the EPC and/or ICP aspects of grid-scale battery energy storage and solar PV projects on budget and to a high level of quality. This includes managing the delivery of electrical system studies, applying mechanical and electrical engineering principles, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
Key Duties
•\tLeadership, engineering management and development of electrical engineering designs.
•\tLead the development of detailed electrical designs including equipment layouts and specifications, SLDs, schedules, etc.
•\tPrepare EPC/ICP Sub-Contractor scopes of work and manage subsequent tender evaluation and contract award.
•\tLead and provide technical input project during project construction (management of contractors, design reviews, programme monitoring, stakeholder management, etc.).
•\tLead and provide technical input to commercial agreements and contracts to ensure project risks are mitigated.
•\tEffectively manage several renewable energy projects concurrently, according to time and budget constraints.
•\tManage and work alongside other professionals in inter-department, multi-disciplinary teams.
•\tPrepare and review technical reports.
•\tSupport procurement activities for main electrical equipment.
•\tReview Sub-Contractor designs, reports, etc. for compliance with project requirements.
•\tUndertake site visits to both new sites and sites under construction.
•\tTake a lead role in business development activities (in conjunction with Business Development professionals).
•\tSupport Bid Team with tender preparation activities.
Qualifications / Capabilities
•\tElectrical balance of plant design skills, with exposure to civil and mechanical systems.
•\tExperience with electrical system modelling software (DigSilent, PSCAD or similar) and the associated system study deliverables (load flow, short circuit, reactive power, energization, cable sizing, etc.).
•\tExperience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software ().
•\tExperience with MS Project, Excel, Word and Procore
•\tKnowledge of UK Grid Code and compliance.
•\tKnowledge of applicable UK design standards and regulations.
•\tKnowledge of UK network operator standards and regulations.
•\tKnowledge of CDM Principal Designer and Principal Contractors roles and duties.
•\tStrong project management/delivery skills.
•\tEffective communication and collaboration abilities.
•\tMinimum of 5 years related work experience.
•\tBachelor’s degree (minimum) in Electrical Engineering, or related field.
•\tFull driving licence and ability to drive to project site locations UK wide, if necessary.
