Overview

The Anglian Water Strategic Pipeline Alliance (SPA) project involves the planning, design and construction of circa 320 km of new strategic, large diameter, clean water interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure across Anglian Water’s region. The SPA Alliance is also responsible for the future interconnector pipelines, a further 260 km of strategic interconnector pipelines and associated infrastructure.

As a Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will be embedded within the SPA delivery team and responsible for several projects’ design outputs, information flow and consistency of approach. You will monitor workload and liaise with Production Line Leads, Design Leads and other discipline Designers, and you will lead the production of detailed electrical design elements. The role is hybrid, with a requirement to visit the Peterborough office once a fortnight.

Responsibilities

  • Originating and checking single line diagrams, DNO supply applications to completion, generator system specifications, MCC specifications, Electrical Installation Specifications, System Architecture Diagrams, package plant specifications, WIMES datasheets, reviewing supplier designs, Factory Acceptance Tests, Water Quality Instrumentation, and telemetry systems.
  • Input to process control, Intelligent P&IDs, 3D models, HAZOP and LOPA studies.
  • Report to the SPA EICA Discipline Lead and work with the Design Lead; collaborate with Supply Chain Designers, Offshore Designers, SPA Planners and Delivery Teams.
  • Develop technical solutions from concept selection through design development to construction status and handover.
  • Understand design interactions from solutions, production and delivery; embrace digital transformation including the creation of a Digital Twin.
  • Lead supplier design progression and review.
  • Develop commercial abilities in managing estimates, targets and forecasts for the design work.
  • Guide the team in producing designs which minimise safety risks in construction and maintenance.
  • Work with team members to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Coordinate the production of construction drawings in CAD, BIM and GIS environments, embracing digital delivery (e.g., intelligent P&IDs).
  • Provide technical support and input to Client meetings.
  • Engage with Utilities and Environmental teams and lead stakeholder discussions with power supplies and communications networks.
  • Support Solutions, Engineering and Production teams with pioneering ideas to gain efficiencies.
  • Understand CAPEX and OPEX solution decision making.
  • Input to the MEICA procurement model, including determining sub-contractor responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Outline and detailed design of water industry applications.
  • Design and Build; Witness testing.
  • Selection and design of Instrumentation, control systems and automation equipment in a process environment.

Essentials

  • HNC or Degree qualified in electrical engineering
  • BS7671 latest edition
  • Driving licence
