Overview

Senior Electrical Engineer (Energy) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to energy transition projects within a global engineering and professional services firm.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the wider project team to lead and develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs.
  • Deliver projects at various stages of maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design.
  • Prepare and develop Electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design, switchgear configurations and bill of materials/quantities for electrical systems.
  • Work with equipment vendors to develop designs of equipment packages and participate in technical evaluations of vendor designs.
  • Collaborate with owners, operators and investors to assess the condition of electrical assets and determine capability, risk, opportunity and intervention needs.
  • Develop proposals and bids for the EC&I discipline and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposals.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • Degree or similar qualification in a relevant Engineering subject, supported by significant postgraduate experience in electrical design and/or operation, maintenance and testing.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
  • Ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of Electrical deliverables and/or assessment of assets under construction or in operation.
  • Knowledge of design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.
  • Proven understanding of the design process and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts and experience in producing calculations and/or commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of medium and high voltage equipment and systems.
