New Today
We are looking for experienced Electrical Engineers with expertise either in networking and communications or marine integration systems. You will be involved in the integration of marine surveillance systems and will design, build, deploy, maintain, and recover or re-site sensor suites.
This role offers the chance to bring emergent technologies into operation in a strategically important sector.
You will be primarily based in Surrey for hands on, workshop based build phases but with regular travel across the UK and abroad for deployments, maintenance, and installation of the equipment at sea and in coastal environments.
As part of the role, you will lead small teams during deployments, guide apprentices and junior engineers, and collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality products on schedule and within budget. The ideal candidate will come from a commercial, telecoms, or marine engineering background.
Key Responsibilities
Build and test panels, control cabinets, distribution boxes, cabling systems, and marinized installations for surveillance equipment
Wiring, soldering at both cable and PCB level, connector assembly, and crimping
Battery cabling and terminations
Production of watertight cable looms and coaxial cable products for marine sensor systems
Installation, integration and deployment of marine surveillance sensor suites
System testing, interrogation, and fault-finding across power (typically DC) and communications equipment
Configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of networking and telecoms equipment used in marine surveillance
Working from Works Orders, CAD electrical schematics, engineering drawings, and production instructions
Collaboration with electrical designers to improve products, drawings, and methods
Providing leadership on deployments and mentoring apprentices
Reporting progress, escalating issues, and ensuring stock, consumables, and workshop housekeeping are managed effectively
Maintaining a safe and compliant working environment, ensuring equipment is tested and compliant, PPE is used correctly, and hazards are reported promptly
Experience Required
Minimum of five years' experience in Electrical Engineering, including time as a team lead or supervisor
Background in commercial, telecoms, or marine systems integration with networking and communications expertise
Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance
Proficiency in electrical build, test, and installation including wiring, soldering, and cabling
Strong experience with Windows OS, networking configuration, and troubleshooting
