The role As a Senior Electrical Test Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of commissioning and testing electrical systems on Royal Navy submarines. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will directly contribute to the safety, reliability, and mission-readiness of the UK’s naval fleet. You’ll lead a team of Test Engineers, ensuring that every system meets exacting standards while mentoring others and driving continuous improvement. Day-to-day responsibilities
Leading, mentoring and motivating a team of Test Engineers Supervising commissioning, testing and calibration of submarine electrical systems Liaising with planning teams to ensure effective scheduling and resourcing Supporting the creation and approval of test documentation and technical reports Applying safety, quality and environmental policies across all commissioning activities
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday and is based on site at HMNB Clyde Faslane. Essential Experience
Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills In-depth understanding of commissioning processes Proficient in IT systems including spreadsheets, databases and MS Office Proven ability to manage workload under pressure Working knowledge of marine electrical systems and equipment
Qualifications
Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship or HNC (or equivalent demonstrable experience in a relevant engineering discipline)
Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
