Overview
Materials Analysis is an Oxford Instruments Business Unit that manages our Electron Microscopy and Mechanical Microscopy products, Atomic Force Microscopes, Raman Microscopes and Benchtop NMR Products. We are part of the wider Oxford Instruments Group that also includes Andor Technology, NanoScience, Plasma Technology and X-Ray Technology. We are looking for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our New Production Development Team. Your focus will be the design and delivery of electronics solutions for our Materials Analysis products.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for technical solutions within specific electronics development projects, working flexibly within a multidisciplinary team to deliver the product. Set up and participate in design reviews and keep thorough design and implementation records
- Design and execute tests to validate systems solutions at appropriate points throughout the product development lifecycle. Ensure new products are transferred adequately to manufacturing and customer support, ensuring appropriate documentation is in place
- Provide support for existing products and ongoing support for new products as needed. Including managing engineering changes using official ECR/ECO/BP procedures in our PLM tool
- Plan, estimate, prioritise and manage own work and work closely with other team members to achieve integrated solutions consistent with project milestones
- Maintain an understanding of the concepts, techniques and requirements of your role. Keep up with trends in your field as well as your specific job area and maintain a good working knowledge of this organisation
- Operate at all times in accordance with health & safety at work legislation
Qualifications
- You are proficient at leading the electronics design of new products, sub-systems, assemblies, and customer solutions
- You are recognised as a senior engineer within your organisation both within and beyond your own function
- You demonstrate expertise in principles, theory and techniques within a specialised field and can communicate the principles beyond your own function
- You solve unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
- Are experienced working with low noise analogue design as well as high speed digital/FPGA
- You enjoy working and collaborating with various cross-functional teams, our engineers work closely with our Technologists, Scientists, Supply chain as well as other key functions.
Location
We are based in High Wycombe (Cressex) and have hybrid working, this typically looks like 3 days in‑office and 2 days in your home office. We have a 37-hour working week with flex on starting times, and 12:30 Friday finishes.
