Overview

As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will be a core member of a software team, developing Ring's next generation of camera‑centric devices. Ideal candidates are passionate about building IoT products and are responsive, flexible, and able to succeed within an open, collaborative peer environment. You will focus on optimizing battery life, boot time, system latency and other performance KPIs, and you will add significant new features and integrate with new hardware and software services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your personal backlog, prioritize issues, and dive deep into technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with partners, colleagues and teams to solve tough problems and ship products to customers, from concept through completion.
  • Provide proactive outward communication and technical leadership, and contribute to architecture and design decisions.

About the team

You will join the team that works on Ring devices, including video doorbells and security cameras. We develop the device firmware that supports features such as Live View, colour night mode and motion detection. Our goal is to deliver a secure, reliable product development process that integrates with the Ring product range and helps Ring keep people closer to the moments that matter.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team.
  • Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design.
  • Experience in professional, non-internship software development.
  • Experience in development in the last 3 years.

Education and Desired Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience with full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
