Overview

Be-IT are working with a respectable company based in Glasgow who are a leader in their field to recruit a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis to work out of their Glasgow office.

You'll have expertise in spearheading the design, enhancement, and optimization of embedded software solutions. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in embedded systems, firmware engineering, and real-time data processing. A background in mobile application development is highly desirable, particularly to support internal projects as we prepare for the launch of our MK4 with NFC connectivity.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and refine embedded software for Data Manager, Superpack, and Controls Software.
  • Create and implement effective resource data management strategies to boost system performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure seamless hardware–software integration.
  • Apply real-time data processing techniques to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Build NFC-enabled connectivity features for the upcoming MK4 product release.
  • Contribute to internal mobile app projects, ensuring smooth cross-platform functionality and user experience.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software issues to maintain high stability and robustness.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including product management, firmware, and UI/UX design.
  • Uphold industry standards and best practices throughout the embedded software development lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in embedded software development.
  • Advanced proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems.
  • Strong background in RTOS and real-time processing methods.
  • Knowledge of resource data management and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with wireless communication protocols (NFC, BLE, Wi-Fi, etc.).
  • Familiarity with microcontroller architectures (ARM, STM, etc.).
  • Exposure to mobile application development (Android/iOS) is advantageous.
  • Understanding of cloud connectivity and IoT protocols is a plus.

Role Details

  • Full-time, permanent role based in Glasgow
  • £60-70k DOE + annual bonus and regular salary reviews
  • Predominantly office-based role due to responsibilities - especially during probation.
  • The right to work in the UK - no sponsorship can be provided
