Senior Engineer (Electrical and Electronics)

As a Senior Engineer (Electrical and Electronics), you will focus on the following areas:

  • Providing technical support to coastal staff and volunteers.
  • Supporting the integration, testing, and rollout of new assets and equipment, ensuring work is based on cost, risk, and performance considerations.
  • Ensuring that the design and integration of RNLI assets, equipment, and procedures align with E&S Processes and Standards.
  • Undertaking technical investigations, troubleshooting, trials, and data analysis at lifeboat stations, boatyards, and contractor sites.
  • Creating CAD models, design calculations, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Collaborating within E&S delivery and project teams, working with IDT Leads and project managers to meet deadlines and adhere to processes.
  • Participating in research and development projects as needed.

This is not an operational seagoing position; however, it is highly desirable, though not essential, that the post holder be operationally seagoing and capable of going afloat in all sea conditions.

Location: Hybrid working between home and Poole, with at least 3 days per week in Poole.

We seek a strong team player with problem-solving and analytical skills, capable of managing a demanding workload with changing priorities. You will liaise across our organization and with external partners, contributing to safe, innovative, and cost-effective engineering solutions.

To qualify, you need:

  • Significant experience in a similar role
  • An engineering qualification equivalent to UK Level 6, or Level 5 with additional experience
  • Experience in the engineering industry
  • Ability to work towards Engineering Council registration at Incorporated Engineer level
  • Good English language skills
  • Proficiency in IT tools including Microsoft Office and CAD (SolidWorks)

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Operational seagoing capability
  • Supervisory or line management experience
  • Project management experience

Salary: £41,242 - £48,520 (dependent on experience)
