This role is for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Accounts & Card team within the Credit Risk Platform, part of Core Services, focusing on near-instant decisioning for customers and evolving our bespoke decision engine.

Responsibilities

• Evolve and maintain our bespoke decision engine central to the application process.
• Collaborate with colleagues to understand and enhance the credit strategy implementation and the software systems that support it.
• Work on a complex problem domain implemented with simple software systems.
• Proactively problem-solve, identify risks or control weaknesses, and mitigate issues in day-to-day work.
• Share knowledge with stakeholders and fellow engineers, contributing to a culture of learning and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Experience with Python & Serverless architectures.
• Strong fundamental programming skills (data structures, algorithms).
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Interest or experience in Functional Programming, Distributed Systems, or Event-Driven Architectures (e.g., Apache Kafka).
• Knowledge of decision engines is advantageous but not essential.
• Willingness to apply and grow within a diverse, inclusive team.
