Responsibilities

  • Managing RAM processes according to sector standards (e.g. EN 50126 for rail) and performing the relevant activities (planning, analysing, verifying, reporting).
  • Leading the RAM team to deliver planned activities and manage sub-contractors.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management.
  • Support bids, advisory work, strategic decisions, and maintain client relationships through RAM knowledge and experience.
  • Mentor junior RAM members, acting as the focal point for technical expertise and guidance.
  • Encourage and promote the innovation and implementation of new techniques and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the team.
  • Promote the WSP brand by engaging with industry partners and professional engineering institutions, including councils, committees and working groups, and writing/presenting papers as appropriate.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • A degree in a technical engineering related discipline, or extensive relevant experience.
  • RAM engineering experience (rail desirable, but not essential).
  • Corporate membership with a professional institution (e.g. SaRS, IET, IMechE, etc.).
  • Professional registration as a Chartered Engineer (or progress toward that goal).
  • Proven ability to deliver RAM activities and provide technical leadership to a team of RAM and Safety Engineers.
  • Proven ability to support RAM and Safety engineering activities and/or create supporting arguments and evidence.
  • Proven ability to liaise with regulatory and independent parties/bodies.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in the EN 50126 series and related standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Knowledge and experience in mainline or metro railway systems (e.g., Signalling, Control Systems, Rolling Stock, Traction Power, Depots).

Desirable requirements

  • Experience of working on international projects.
  • Experience in other sectors (e.g. aviation, nuclear, oil & gas, defence).
  • Experience in consultancy and supplier/client sides.
