The Role We are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to play a key role in delivering complex civil engineering projects. This position will provide site engineering leadership across multiple projects, including supervision and mentoring of junior engineers and trainees. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for ensuring works are set out accurately, delivered safely, meet quality standards, and comply with environmental and legal requirements. You will also support the Sub Agent/Site Agent in managing project delivery and deputise when required. Initially, this role will focus on the Manor Road NOS7 and NOS8 remediation packages for Thames Water-a large, complex project involving repair and remediation of bridge structures and trunk sewer barrels across rail and road spans. This is an exciting opportunity to be involved from the design phase through to completion. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Site & Project Management - Establish survey control and set out works accurately in line with contract drawings. - Lead and manage a team of engineers, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of works. - Support the development of construction methods, temporary works schemes, and project plans. - Manage quality assurance processes, including ITPs, RAMS, audits, and records. - Maintain accurate 'as-built' information, drawing registers, and site diaries. - Take overall responsibility for project delivery when deputising for the Sub Agent/Site Agent. Health, Safety, Quality & Environment (HSQE) - Ensure works are delivered safely, without environmental incidents, and to the highest quality standards. - Conduct toolbox talks and communicate method statements effectively. - Lead by example in promoting a strong HSQE culture across the site team. Resource & Cost Management - Ensure availability of resources (labour, plant, materials) that meet programme, quality, and cost requirements. - Manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of works. - Maintain accurate records of resources and costs, actively seeking opportunities for value engineering and cost savings. - Monitor project budgets and highlight risks, variations, and opportunities. Client & Stakeholder Engagement - Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the client (Thames Water) and stakeholders. - Attend and lead client meetings, ensuring clear communication and progress reporting. - Deliver projects to client requirements, ensuring satisfaction and building long-term trust. Reporting & Documentation - Produce accurate and timely weekly and monthly project reports. - Chair regular site meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and completed. - Support planning and project controls teams with progress updates and lookaheads. ________________________________________ About You Essential - Degree/HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering. - Proven experience in civil engineering projects (highways, infrastructure, reinforced concrete, water sector). - CSCS card. - SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain). - Confined space training. - Experience using AutoCAD. - Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, CDM regulations, risk management, and cost control. - Excellent communication, leadership, and team management skills. - Ability to manage projects independently and mentor junior engineers. - Track record of resolving technical challenges and delivering high-quality results. Desirable - Temporary Works Coordinator certification. - Lift coordinator/supervisor experience. - Proven track record of managing projects of similar scale and complexity
