Introducing an exciting opportunity to join the Infrastructure Engineering team as a Senior Engineer.

Job Summary

Frankham are seeking an ambitious and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our Rail team, with the opportunity to support the wider Infrastructure Engineering team, which includes Maritime and Asset Management. We are looking for a dynamic engineer who is technically strong, capable of taking a lead role in client management, and motivated to help assist and develop engineers and graduates.

In this role you’ll find yourself working as part of a young, growing, and enthusiastic team. This role will provide the opportunity to work on an interesting and varied portfolio of projects and structures, such as Station Developments, AFA Schemes, Bridge Design and Renewal Schemes, as well as genuine opportunities for career progression.

Responsibilities

1. Able to work independently under minimal direction.
2. Excellent time keeping and time management.
3. Willingness to take ownership of allocated tasks.
4. Act as a Line Manager.
5. Support and manage project team members, including providing technical support.
6. Mentor and develop the understanding and technical knowledge of junior colleagues.
7. Undertake roles related to Project Management.
8. Preparation of fee proposals.
9. Support in all aspects of tenders, including producing and delivering presentations.
10. Determine a project’s scope of works, budget and programme.
11. Responsible for the financial, technical and project management of various projects.
12. Prepare or check technical reports, specifications, drawings, calculations, risk assessments and method statements.
13. Comply with varying design standards ensuring all deliverables are compliant.
14. Undertake design reviews to ensure coordination between design disciplines.
15. Undertake and lead inspections, examinations and scoping visits with the client.
16. Have a good understanding of relevant Health & Safety Legislation, Codes of Practice & standards and current design methods.
17. Liaise and attend meetings with clients.
18. Ability to communicate with people at all levels in both technical and non-technical environments.

Experience Requirements

1. Minimum 6 years of experience in a civil/structural engineering role, ideally within the Rail sector and on Infrastructure projects.
2. Professional qualification, Chartered/Incorporated with ICE/IStructE, or near to.
3. CRE(D) experience is desirable, but not essential.
4. Strong design experience in a range of projects and structures in the Rail sector.
5. Proven experience of assisting or delivering projects to time and budget.
6. Experience of assisting projects and teams with the associated financial management.
7. Experience undertaking and checking designs and calculations.
8. Effective communication skills in a client facing role.
9. Experience of Eurocodes, Network Rail, Railway Group and British Standards.
10. Experience of Network Rail engineering assurance process and procedures.
11. Experience of multi-disciplinary design coordination and integration.
12. Working knowledge of a structural analysis software such as Tekla Tedds, Tekla Structural Designer (2D/3D frame), S-frame 3D, Robot, SuperStress, MIDAS, LUSAS etc.
13. Proficient use of MS office-based software is essential.
14. Working knowledge of relevant CDM regulations.
