Hitachi Energy has an exciting opportunity to join the Grid Automation Team as a Senior Field Service Engineer. This role involves contributing to the advancement of power grid technology, positively impacting the world of power grids.

The position entails traveling to various sites across the United Kingdom to engage with customers, ensuring the maintenance or surpassing of their service expectations. You will be on an on-call rota to deliver emergency call-out services to existing customers, working within a supportive engineering team committed to offering innovative solutions to our valued customers. This opportunity offers flexible working from sites across England and our Stone (Staffordshire) office.

Your impact

• Maintain the reporting and record system for customer problems, maintenance, and fixes.
• Provide technical support to customers and colleagues in evaluating technical requirements and addressing technical queries.
• Fault-find on complex systems.
• Assist Sales & Tendering in imparting customer- and site-specific experience and knowledge.
• Prepare technical and test specifications, and test reports.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System, Safety Procedures, and Accountancy Policies.
• Help to maintain customer spares and customer standby systems.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for on-site work activities.
• Ensure conformity to the Hitachi Energy Electrical Safety Management System.
• Understand the environmental risks associated with the business unit.

Your background

• Proven industry experience with a desire to undertake nationwide site work.
• Knowledge of SCADA / RTUs / Electrical protection / Critical Telecommunications solutions.
• Working knowledge of communication networks.
• Working knowledge of IEC61850.
• Customer-focused and fluent in spoken and written English.
• HNC/HND in an Engineering discipline.
