We’re working with a cutting-edge startup developing high-performance computing systems for real-world, mission-critical applications. As they grow their engineering capability, they’re hiring a Senior FPGA Engineer to develop and optimise hardware acceleration pipelines at the intersection of AI, embedded systems, and digital design.

This is a hands-on role ideal for a Senior FPGA Engineer who thrives working close to hardware—building FPGA-based inference engines, integrating high-speed sensors, and iterating designs under real-world constraints. You’ll collaborate directly with embedded engineers and AI researchers to optimise performance from concept to field deployment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and optimise FPGA-based acceleration paths for neural network inference
• Develop and integrate high-speed I/O interfaces (e.g. MIPI CSI-2, I2C)
• Work on co-design with embedded software for high-throughput, low-latency systems
• Build and use testbenches, simulation tools, and lab equipment for validation
• Tune implementations for performance, power, and size in constrained environments

Key Experience Required

• Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL and FPGA toolchains (Vivado, Quartus, etc.)
• Experience with AI acceleration frameworks or custom hardware IP (e.g. FINN, Vitis AI, TVM)
• Strong background in hardware/software co-design and hands-on debug
• Understanding of production cycles for FPGA-based systems
• Ability to balance rapid prototyping with disciplined engineering practices
