Job summary

As part of a multi-disciplinary team of professionally qualified staff, ensure the retention and development of both external and internal customers by the application of specialist technical knowledge and understanding of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations. Deliver an efficient and effective service to NHBC Core, Claims and Building Control Services Ltd in accordance with the business area Service Level Agreement and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure NHBC, customer and statutory requirements are met.

What you'll be doing

  • Manage risk to NHBC Group on warranty products and claims, proposals under the LQE service and NHBC BCS on building control applications in accordance with the relevant business area SLA's, technical policies and Standard Operating Procedures to ensure customer and statutory requirements are met.
  • Manage own workload and allocated tasks by Inspection Manager or Peer Group 1-3 builders to ensure relevant SLA's are achieved.
  • Provide professional technical advice as well as support on the assessment of land affected by contamination.
  • Negotiate with developers, builders and their professional advisors to ensure proposals for land affected by contamination in relation to building control and warranty submissions, as well as on sites being assessed through the Land Quality Endorsement service, are satisfactory to relevant regulations/NHBC Standards.
  • Prepare technical reports for builders and/or professional advisors and check reports prepared by others.
  • Assist on contaminated land claims, agree brief with client, undertake investigations, report on findings, prepare solutions for remedial work schemes, issue tender information, assess costs and undertake site inspections.
  • Deliver technical presentations to both internal and external customers where required.
  • Demonstrable substantial experience of contaminated land in the house building, land development or regulatory sector.
  • Demonstrable substantial experience of site appraisals and assessments including site investigations, ground gas risk assessments and remediation solutions.
  • Proven ability to make pragmatic risk based decisions on technical solutions and on compliance with regulations and/or standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of investigations and testing associated with contamination, remediation and validation.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the regulatory regime and guidance for contaminated land in the UK.
  • Thorough knowledge of ground gases - risk assessment and gas remedial measures.
  • Awareness and understanding of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations relevant to contaminated land.
  • Appropriate accredited first degree.
  • Full membership of an appropriate professional body/institution and chartered status.

Salary: £43,000 - £50,000 + up to 10% performance bonus + regional allowance (up to £7,500)
