Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Overview: Part of Xodus Group, Evolv Energies is at the forefront of major international projects, providing engineering expertise to support offshore developers, investors and the wider construction and installation supply chain through Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design, and across Construction and Installation activities, primarily for offshore wind, interconnectors and energy transition projects.

The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will work on a variety of project scopes including offshore wind (fixed and floating) and subsea cables (transmission and distribution). You will provide technical expertise and support in the definition and delivery of geotechnical requirements (including tendering) to support both engineering and construction services projects.

Responsibilities

  • Complete geotechnical engineering aspects of tenders, studies and projects, with support from senior team members
  • Evaluate the quality of available site investigation data for offshore renewables projects, and specify and supervise site investigations when needed
  • Interpret and use offshore site investigation data, integrate results into ground models and derive parameters for the detailed design of subsea infrastructure
  • Undertake detailed design for the installation of gravity-based, piled and suction-installed foundations and subsea cables
  • Use limit analysis for estimation of collapse load for foundations subject to complex loading
  • Participate in offshore assignments, including supervision of offshore site investigations, foundation installation, and mechanical protection of products (e.g., trenching and rock dumping works) as required
  • Work effectively on several projects concurrently to deliver challenging targets
  • Collaborate proactively with multi-disciplinary engineering and project delivery teams

Qualifications

  • A hands-on approach, with a can-do attitude and willingness to work with a team at all levels
  • Demonstrable surveying expertise with strong construction and operational knowledge, experienced in Marine and Offshore construction projects and IRM for offshore wind and subsea cables; additional nearshore and HDD experience is a plus
  • Ideally Chartered with a relevant qualification in Engineering, Geology or related discipline
  • Competent in the use of current industry survey software and equipment
  • Ability to plan and supervise own work with minimal supervision to meet deadlines
  • Understanding and experience of offshore site investigations, data integration and geospatial modelling
  • Complementary skills in route engineering, CBRA, GIS, site characterisation are welcomed
