Contract Hardware Engineer (Outside IR35) – Cutting-Edge Satellite Comms | Immediate Start

We’re working with a confidential leader in next-generation satellite communications technology who is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer to join their elite engineering team on an Outside IR35 contract basis. This is an immediate start role for a forward-thinking engineer ready to make a direct impact on the future of global connectivity.

This is more than just another contract — it's a chance to work on breakthrough hardware for advanced terminal systems featuring fully electronic beam steering and intelligent network routing. These terminals are engineered for seamless integration across multiple satellite constellations and terrestrial networks, with real-world applications in aerospace, land mobile, maritime, and 5G.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Leading the design and development of complex, high-performance hardware subsystems.
• Taking full ownership of schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred), from concept through to production.
• Collaborating with RF, Software, Systems, and Mechanical teams on cross-disciplinary designs.
• Bringing up, verifying, and testing hardware systems in the lab – ensuring full compliance with CE, FCC, and MIL-STD standards.
• Participating in design reviews and mentoring junior engineers.
• Producing clear technical documentation and driving engineering best practices.

What We’re Looking For

• 10+ years in hardware development, with a proven track record in full product lifecycle delivery.
• Deep expertise in high-speed PCB design, signal/power integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
• Hands-on experience with lab tools (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.) and PCB rework.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-461G, MIL-STD-810H, and high-speed interfaces such as DDR, PCIe.
• Proficient with schematic/PCB design tools (Altium preferred).
• A self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, high-performance environments.
