Role summary

A Little More About Your Role…

Liveable Places work with a wide range of local authority and private clients to help them achieve placemaking ambitions. The team delivers schemes from concept to delivery, including public realm, traffic engineering, transport planning, road safety, traffic signals, pedestrian/traffic modelling, active travel and parking. This role provides an opportunity to play a pivotal part in Liveable Places and contribute to its growth.

Responsibilities

  • Act as Project Manager on a wide range of projects delivering liveable places and better sustainable transport routes in urban and rural settings
  • Work directly with clients to meet their sustainable transport needs and help grow and develop the work with them
  • Demonstrate traffic engineering or transport planning experience, including traffic signals design and modelling
  • Prepare and review reports, drawings (CAD), schedules and other documents in accordance with design standards and guidance (LTN 1/20, LTN 1/24, Traffic Signs Manual, MfS, MfS 2, DMRB, CDM 2015)
  • Be responsible for the financial performance of projects
  • Undertake technical review and checking of design deliverables within the team
  • Collaborate with the Liveable Places team and the wider WSP Transport group to achieve objectives

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • A civil engineering, transport engineering or transport planning degree
  • Membership of a relevant professional body
  • Chartered Engineer or Chartered Transport Planning Professional status
  • Proven ability to lead and manage project teams
  • Proven track record in project management and financial control
  • Passion for mentoring and developing talent
  • Transport, traffic signals, road safety or highway engineering experience
  • Good spoken and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise with public sector officials, the public and senior colleagues
