Overview

A leading international trading firm is seeking a highly skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer to oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of enterprise-level IT infrastructure. The position is critical to ensuring system availability, security, compliance, and scalability across data centre and cloud environments. Fluency in Mandarin is required to interpret and adapt technical and compliance requirements from overseas headquarters into effective local solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver secure, compliant, and reliable infrastructure solutions for trading operations.
  • Deploy and maintain networking equipment (switches, firewalls, VPNs), storage solutions, and virtualisation platforms (e.g. VMware).
  • Ensure adherence to international and local regulations, including ISO/IEC 27001, GDPR, and PCI-DSS.
  • Optimise systems for resilience, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Lead infrastructure-related audits and provide documentation to demonstrate compliance.
  • Adapt global infrastructure policies and frameworks into practical, locally optimised implementations.

Systems & Operations Management

  • Ensure trading platforms and supporting systems maintain high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and robust backup strategies.
  • Oversee infrastructure lifecycle planning, vendor selection, asset tracking, and process documentation.
  • Coordinate responses to penetration tests, conduct health checks, and monitor vendor service quality.
  • Mitigate risks associated with data centre connectivity, failover procedures, and third-party hardware dependencies.

Networking & Security

  • Configure and support firewalls, VPNs, load balancers, and DNS infrastructure.
  • Implement modern security practices such as IAM, Zero Trust, encryption, and patching strategies.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network performance and latency issues.
  • Collaborate with security teams to remediate issues raised during audits and assessments.
  • Mentor junior engineers and guide best practices across the team.
  • Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to align infrastructure with business-critical trading requirements.
  • Contribute to critical incident response on an on-call rotation.
  • Travel to international headquarters and subsidiaries when necessary.
  • Act as the key contact for infrastructure audits and deliver compliance training.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Extensive experience in infrastructure engineering, cloud platforms, and data centre administration, ideally within high-availability or trading environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, GDPR, PCI-DSS, and related compliance frameworks (ISO 27001 Lead Implementer / Lead Auditor preferred).
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English, with proven ability to localise IT requirements for regional operations.

Required Skills

  • Vendor management expertise, including RFP processes and service cutovers.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Deep understanding of networking technologies (TCP/IP, BGP, VLANs, SD-WAN, CDNs).
  • Strong background in regulatory compliance and audit preparation.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with on-premises platforms, disaster recovery, and data centre infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible, with an interest in developing further expertise.
