Overview

Senior ITS Engineer role at Mott MacDonald. Location: UK-wide. The ITS Engineering and Consultancy team provides client support from feasibility studies through detailed design to post-installation analysis for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

The role involves contributing technically to the Technology Services ITS Engineering and Consultancy team, with potential secondment to a client in the South East region. Weekly travel to the Hampshire area may be required, with main office location discussed at interview. The role centers on designing and specifying a varied range of ITS projects using your skills and experience to deliver technical excellence for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute technically to ITS projects within the Technology Services ITS Engineering and Consultancy team.
  • Design and specify a varied range of ITS projects for local, national, and international highway schemes.
  • Support projects from feasibility through detailed design to post-installation analysis as required by client schemes.
  • Travel to client locations as needed (e.g., Hampshire) and coordinate with colleagues based in Bristol and Southampton offices.

Candidate specification

  • Engineering background with a track record of design input to ITS projects at any stage of the process.
  • Detailed understanding of ITS and/or related technologies, with insight into developing transport sector trends and their operational applications to meet client needs.

Essential

  • BEng / BSc in engineering or related subject or relevant professional experience
  • Track record in the design of ITS schemes in the UK
  • Working knowledge of national standards, equipment capabilities and design specifications
  • Working towards Chartership with a relevant institution

Desirable

  • Experience of working with National Highways and UK local authorities
  • Experience designing major project ITS schemes
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment
  • Project management experience in an ITS context
  • Ability to develop relationships and engender trust with clients and partners
  • Excellent communication skills, strong initiative
  • Sector 8 Accreditation
