Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Location - London (hybrid)

We’re working with a fast-growing SaaS company that’s building intelligent solutions to simplify how businesses are verified and onboarded. Their technology helps financial institutions confidently and quickly assess the legitimacy of their business clients through automated, data-driven tools.

They are now looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer (Natural Language Processing) to help drive the next phase of product development. As one of the earliest hires in the ML function, you’ll play a critical role in architecting and scaling the AI systems at the heart of the platform. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly influence how millions of data points are extracted, processed, and served across the application—helping redefine how complex risk and identity data is managed at scale.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement core ML features used for document understanding, web content parsing, entity resolution, and intelligent search.
• Train, evaluate, and deploy models for use in classification, retrieval, matching, and NLP-related tasks.
• Write production-ready code to embed models directly into user-facing systems.
• Influence technical strategy around ML, data engineering, and deployment architecture.
• Establish and evolve best practices in model development, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Work cross-functionally with product, engineering, and leadership to align ML capabilities with business needs.

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience delivering production-level ML systems with a focus on Natural Language Processing.
• Strong understanding of core NLP methods and experience with:
  • Named Entity Recognition
  • Text classification
  • Embedding-based search and entity matching
  • Web data parsing and document extraction
• Experience training or fine-tuning modern LLMs (e.g. HuggingFace Transformers, OpenAI, LLaMA 2, LangChain).
• Skilled in Python and SQL, with the ability to build scalable pipelines and deploy models into production environments.
• Hands-on experience serving models via frameworks like PyTorch, TorchServe, ONNX, or Triton.
• Comfortable writing ETL pipelines and working with orchestration tools (e.g. Airflow, Prefect).
• Strong grasp of statistics, algorithms, and data structures.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills—able to work across teams and iterate quickly in a startup-style environment.
• Experience with data visualisation/BI tools (e.g. Metabase, Redash) and web scraping a plus.
