TE's Aerospace Defense & Marine Division is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer – Fiber Optics to deliver the engineering design, development, and implementation of next generation manufacturing technologies and processes. Manufacturing Development works closely with Product Development and Operations onsite to launch new products with world class quality and cost, infusing DFM/DFA principles to ensure robust, manufacturable designs and delivering product designs aligned with current manufacturing capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Launch new product at world class quality and cost at pace of customer demand.
- Infuse strong DFM/DFA principles to ensure robust, efficient and cost-effective designs that are manufacturable at full scale.
- Deliver product designs that align with current manufacturing capabilities.
- Develop new manufacturing processes to support customer driven product innovation as needed.
- New process and equipment compliance with TE safety and ergonomic policies.
- DFM/A input into the early stages of product design.
- PFMEA and implementation of high-risk mitigation plans.
- Manufacturing capacity analysis and value stream mapping.
- Assembly tooling and equipment development.
- Process qualification via capability studies and support in the execution of sample builds and first article inspection.
- Generation of process specifications and support for cost estimates on new product concepts.
- Develop and implement new manufacturing technologies and automation to support customer driven new product innovation.
- Apply lean manufacturing focus to drive world class cost on new product and plant-level productivity initiatives for fiber optic manufacturing processes.
- Support TE’s global operations footprint as a subject matter expert for fiber optic manufacturing processes.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Optical, or Manufacturing Engineering with 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, at least 2 of which is related to fiber optic product.
- Experience with machine, equipment and process design, development, and deployment into a production environment.
- Hands-on problem solver with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge and experience implementing Lean Six Sigma principles; Green or Black Belt certification is a plus.
- Must be able to effectively operate in remote teams with broad geographic footprints.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to balance priorities while working under demanding project schedules.
- Strong written and oral communication skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient with 3D CAD software as well as Microsoft Office applications.
UK MIL access required.
