The Senior NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer role will be focused on the execution of new product introductions on Circuit Card and mechanical assemblies. With a strong technical background in mechanical assembly processes, the NPI Engineer will ensure the successful introduction of new products into Manufacturing through the application of robust manufacturing principles and processes.
Responsibilities:
Focus on CCA & Unit Level assembly Technical and Manufacturing Eng. lead on NPI Builds, with ownership for the execution to agreed schedule and cost, and to required Quality standards and Manufacturing best practices Engagement at all stages of the NPI process; from Bid and Proposal through execution of NPI Builds as a precursor to product release into full rate production. Active participation in DFM and "manufacturability" analyses and reporting Use manufacturing data to identify and address issues Use data to drive Systemic Root Cause and Corrective Action Identify, expedite and / or escalate any quality or performance issues Identify skills training or development requirements and escalate through management Report & maintain Manufacturing Engineering metrics, track performance against Team KPI and Individual Goals & Objectives Ensure metrics are used / responded to in order to optimize processes Support the Program Cells and the rest of the Engineering community when requiredEssential Skills:
Qualified to minimum HND level in Manufacturing / Production Engineering or a related Engineering discipline Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical manufacturing processes over a wide range of technologies, processes and production platforms Wide-ranging understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical product design and operation Can demonstrate contribution to specific improvements in Production Programs' effectiveness efficiency and optimization Understands, and promotes the principles and benefits of Design for Excellence (DfX) Can lead / participate in process FMEA development, design review and risk mitigation processes Understands the principles of 6 Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Lean ManufacturingDesired Skills:
Knowledge of Circuit Card Assembly Processes Understanding of electro-mechanical manufacturing processes over a wide range of technologies, processes and production platforms Experience in the Defence / Aerospace or safety regulated environment would be advantageous
