Together with our mechanical and electrical engineers, we provide integrated building services to our clients.The OpportunityWe are seeking a Senior Mechanical Building Services Engineer to join our Building Services Engineering team. The role offers the chance to contribute to multidisciplinary projects, collaborating with building physicists, sustainability and energy consultants, carbon specialists, and BIM modellers. Our team is part of a broader regional network that includes civil, structural, fire, acoustics, specialist lighting, and other engineering disciplines.As a Senior Engineer, you will play an integral role throughout all project phases—from initial feasibility studies through to final completion—across a diverse range of sectors, with a preference for candidates with Science sector experience. Your engineering expertise will help shape projects aligned with net zero carbon outcomes. You will design buildings that deliver value while minimising environmental impact and provide technical leadership to the MEP team on local, national, and international projects.You will demonstrate strong project management capabilities, including overseeing financial performance, managing client relationships, and handling commercial matters such as fees and contracts. You will ensure efficient project delivery through effective team management and delegation, reporting to the Project Director. You will contribute to Arup’s digital transformation by exploring automation opportunities and expanding our integrated digital design approach.At Arup, you belong to a collaborative community that values individuality and diverse perspectives. Our members work on ambitious projects to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients and communities.Is this role right for you?We’re looking for a candidate who:Holds a degree in Mechanical, Building Services, or Architectural Engineering and has Chartered Engineer status with a recognised institution (e.g., IMechE or CIBSE).Has extensive experience in winning and delivering a diverse portfolio of projects with technical excellence and commercial awareness.Provides confident technical leadership to multidisciplinary design teams, including coordination with external sub-consultants.Maintains a strong understanding of sector-specific legislation, regulatory frameworks, and design guidance, with ability to anticipate emerging trends.Demonstrates a clear commitment to sustainable building design with knowledge of energy and carbon considerations and related regulatory standards.What we offer youWe provide an attractive total reward package, with competitive pay, opportunities for growth, flexible benefits, and a chance to contribute to meaningful projects.
